This will be a fun project. I an most of all its all about learning. Production is key and every day I will have to produce a page or data visualization. The more interactive, the better. It needs to be useful which means the data can’t be static. There has to be a component of user input.
In all of my jobs, my favorite element was data visualization. In my two and a half years as a research analyst, I buried myself in data and as a junior researcher, it was my job to deliver the goods. I got kudos for the data presentation, and the synthesis into a small piece. I picked my favorite analysts based on who presented the data the clearest and assumed they had a lot to say.
In an operations role, I had the flexibility to create charts and maybe I overdid it, but I was excited with data presentation that drives operations. “Data is the most important asset in the world.” - The Economist. I got carried away with charts, graphics, and ate up my responsibility for intraday, daily and weekly charts.
There’s a lot of opportunity on the web to become data-driven and I’m excited to learn more though this project. I like display and visualization but also getting to do some web design. It crosses the the line between marketing and research.
